Create a Plot File.

Why do you need to create a plot file?

Plot files help ensure that you get the results you want when printing AutoCAD files. Plot files allow you, the customer, to control the pen weights, screening, and the size of the printed plot. By getting the results you want the first time, you also save money and time!

How do I create a plot file?

Creating a plot file in AutoCAD consists of installing a driver that is included with your AutoCAD software. It is as easy as adding a printer to your computer.

Adding the plotter

  1. Open AutoCAD
  2. Choose: File - Plotter Manager -Add A Plotter Wizard
  3. At your first dialog box, select My Computer then click next.
  4. Choose OCE TDS600 from the list of plotter manufacturers and models then click on Next.
  5. The next box contains driver information. Click Continue then next until you get to the Ports dialog box.
  6. In the Ports dialog box, select Plot to File. This is very important and will not work correctly unless selected properly.
  7. The next dialog box allows you to name the plotter you just installed. You can accept the default name or rename Colourcorp Printer for ease in selecting the right plotter. Click Next
  8. Click Finish and you are ready to create plot files. Creating a plot file

Open your drawing then select File - Print. Select the appropriate plot device
(Colourcorp Printer). Set the scale and paper size, then print. The plot file will be
created in the same directory that the .dwg file was opened from. Pen settings
should automatically embed in the plot file. Then just email your plot files to
print@colourcorp.com.au.
